Week 17 Give Thanks Daily
Hey Guys!! This week has been pretty epic-
Tuesday: We had Zone Conference and discussed how we can better connect with people over social media. Our mission president revealed that we would now have a Facebook page for each zone in our mission, and our's is Frieden in Christus Südost Deutschland.
Wednesday: We met with a member of the church here from Chemnitz. The guy's a legend, he got baptized in February and we meet with him every week. He always has a ton of questions and it's always a good time teaching him.
Thursday: We got invited over for dinner by a family in Hohenstein. They made us some burritos which were very tasty and we talked about life during these uncertain times, how it can be hard to feel connected to God with all the chaos going on with Corona and the U.S. election but that through prayer and revelation we can receive guidance from him. We also talked about how thankful we are to have a Prophet on the earth to give us guidance in these times and challenged them to share President Nelson's message on Friday with friends through social media.
Friday: We met with an older lady from Chemnitz. We talked with her about this week's Come Follow Me lesson and hyped up President Nelson's message of hope and healing. We then went to the church building and watched it there. If you haven't seen this video I would highly recommend you to because wow it was great. I know from experience that whenever I focus on the positives in my life and give thanks to our Heavenly Father, it does wonders for the soul and I end up being much happier.
Saturday: This day we had a lot of meetings over video calls. We video-called our friend Roya and read together in the Book of Mormon. We then video-called this guy named Areaaj who we met through Facebook. He was looking for someone to help him learn German, so we gladly volunteered. He was pretty cool and we plan to meet with him again tomorrow. Later in the evening, we video-called Tim another friend and he showed us his gnarly book collection.
Sunday: We went to church in the morning and then were invited over for lunch with a younger married couple. They both served their missions in Russia (different missions and at different times haha), so they made us some Russian food. We had a few different varieties of crepes. One combination was mashed potatoes with sausage, fried onion bits, and pickles. Another was yogurt sauce with chicken and cheese, and then finally there was jam and honey. The food was great It was a fun time getting to know them and hearing their mission stories. Later that evening we experienced a miracle. We visited Peter, a member of the Chemnitz ward who is studying at the university. He told us that one of his friends was staying over at his place so he could take his exam the next morning. When we got there his friend was just chilling on the other side of the room and we didn't really think much of it. After about 15 mins of catching up with Peter, he told us that he gave his friend a Book of Mormon and he was interested in learning more about it. We were able to give him the first lesson and he loved it. Then we asked Peter about his experience joining the church and he bore a super strong testimony. We were able to get his friend's number and we'll be getting him in touch with the missionaries near him.
Today: we went on the hunt for a Christmas tree to put in our apartment. We went to a couple of stores and they were selling for €100. We didn't want to fork over that much, so we went to the church and snatched the one they had in the attic along with all the lights and ornaments haha. We figured because of Corona they won't be throwing a Christmas party, hopefully, they don't get mad at us if they find out. We then went into the city center and got some döner from a different place than we usually go. We also looked around at a bunch of different shops and chilled for the rest of the day.
I hope you guys are doing well and that you have a great week!
