Week 38 Georgia Boys in the House

Image
Hey Guys!  How are you? I hope all is going well with all of you.  I had a fantastic week!  On Tuesday, I took the train to Berlin to drop off  Elder Sciascia.  He is transferring to Freiberg.  While I was waiting for my new companion to come, I was able to hook up with Elder Ames, and guess what he is from Georgia.  He lives near Savannah.  Anyway, we had a great time as we went into the city and saw some of the sights.  We visited the parliament,  the Jewish Memorial, and the Brandenburg Gate. Afterward, we went back to the train station and we saw a bunch of the other missionaries. My new companion is Elder Gagnon.  He is from Marietta, Georgia.  He is so lit!  We get along fantastically! We have had a great week filled with finding.  We met this really nice lady.  It turns out she is from Hawaii.  She moved to Germany about 2 years ago.  Her German is perfect!  Then one day as we were walking in the park my companion saw a group of boys who were skateboarding.  He asked if he could

Surgery

Hi Guys!  How are you?  Sorry, this is going to be short but I don't have very much time today.  My companion is transferring to Freiburg tomorrow and so we have a lot to do.   Not much has happened this week as I had surgery on Wednesday to repair the break in my arm.  They put a plate in my arm that will have to be removed in a year.  The surgery went well and I was able to walk around by lunch.  Thursday was a little ruff as the nerve blocker wore off and I was in some pain, but thankfully they were able to give me something for that.  On Friday, I was sent home.  I will meet with the doctor this coming Friday and I hope they will remove the stitches.  Well, I better run!  We need to meet with a family this afternoon and since we can't use our bikes it is going to take us some time to get there!   I hope you have a great week and hopefully I will have more to report to you next week.  Love, Winston Lunch at the hospital The view from my window Me outside the hospital before

Week 36 God is in the details

Hi Guys! As you guys may have seen, I broke my arm. That was totally crazy and unexpected. I really appreciate all the love and support that I've received from you guys. I have gotten many of your cards and letters and I can't even begin to tell you how much it means to me. On Wednesday after getting home from the hospital, my companion, Elder Sciascia gave me a blessing and my arm hasn't been hurting at all! I was able to get back to work the next day as usual: however, there are some tasks that are a little difficult like tying shoelaces, putting on a tie, and cutting food.  And if there were miracles wrought then, why has God ceased to be a God of miracles and yet be an unchangeable Being? And behold, I say unto you he changeth not; if so he would cease to be God; and he ceaseth not to be God, and is a God of miracles. 20 And the reason why he ceaseth to do miracles among the children of men is that they dwindle in unbelief, and depart from the right way, and know not th

Broken Bones week 35 1/2

Yesterday evening, my companion and I were riding our bikes to the city center, as I was turning right, my front wheel got stuck in the tram tracks and I flew over my handlebars. The next thing I know, I hit the ground and I can't get up because my left arm is in a ton of pain. Thankfully the Branch President here was able to come and take us to the hospital. After getting a few x-rays done it turns out that I broke my arm and I'll need to get it operated on. Luckily it's not that bad, and I know that through faith Heavenly Father will give me the strength required to endure this challenge. "Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever." Alma 26:12I would greatly appreciate it if y'all could keep me in your prayers that my operation wil

Week 35

Hi!  This is Winston's mom, He didn't write a letter this week.  Here are a couple of highlights from his week though. 1) Watched General Conference.  What is General Conference? It is a conference that takes place two times a year once in the fall and once in the spring.  The conference takes place over two days and it is where we listen to talks provided by the leaders of our church.  Winston expressed his favorite talk was by Elder Rasband. God is a God of Miracles.   2)  He ate Easter dinner at a member's home and was served a lovely Easter dinner of fish. 3) Currently they are teaching multiple people.  They are also giving German lessons to others seeking help in making their German better. They are making the best of lifted Coronavirus restrictions and good weather to be outdoors as much as possible. 4) Epic steak dinner pictured above was made by Winston himself.  His cooking is for hire upon his return.   Have a great week!
