Week 5

Image
This week I had my first exchange and it was a ton of fun. The Erfurt Elders came over and I spent the day with Elder Obrist.  He is super cool! He is 22, which makes him older than the rest of us. Before leaving for his mission, he worked in the house-building industry and served in the Swiss military, so I was able to learn a lot from him. We had companionship study together and then we went to Schwester Karl's place for an appointment. Schwester Karl is the sweetest lady and always loves having the missionaries over. When we were leaving she gave us a ton of food to take home with us which was dope. I also finished my Technology training this week so I can finally use Facebook now. I'm thankful that we have the blessing of technology as it opens so many opportunities for sharing the love that Jesus Christ has for us with others. On Thursday we got notified that my mission President is currently in the hospital and will need surgery, so it would mean the world to me if you co...

Week 8 Leipzig

Image
Sorry everyone, looks like Elder Rothaermel was too busy to send a letter this week. I can tell you he had a really great week.  They were super busy all week long.  Earlier in the week, they had an opportunity to meet with a member from the other ward in town who helped them with their German language skills.  They also helped someone move from one apartment to another. They met with a couple of people interested in the church and were invited over to some members' house from their ward (a ward is a term used for the congregation and a ward is based on a geographical area on a map) for dinner.  They were stoked about dinner because it was a taco dinner.  We were able to talk with him multiple times this week because of birthdays in our family.  I know he enjoys getting emails from all of you and mail, so keep it up!   -Sister Rothaermel WinstonRothaermel@missionary.org Elder Winston Rothaermel 15 Blochmannstrasse Leipzig, Germany 04105

My Mission

Image
Hi!  I have gotten a few questions about where I will be exactly serving my mission.  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints currently has three missions in Germany.  There is the Frankfurt Germany Mission, The Alpine Mission, and the Berlin Germany Mission.  I am serving in the Berlin Germany mission. As you can see from the maps above, the mission boundaries are rather larger, so while my mission is called the Berlin Mission it doesn't necessarily mean I will be serving in Berlin.  In fact, over the next two years, I will be serving in multiple cities.  I have no idea which cities I will be serving in, but I am excited to see where the Lord sends me.  I am excited to get to know the people of Germany and serve them with all my heart.  10 days and counting until I leave for Germany!
