Week 1 Willkommen to Deutschland!
Hey Guys!! So this week has been super busy. Friday evening my dad and I flew to Germany. The flight went smoothly and I was surprisingly able to sleep well (about 5 hours). After landing Saturday morning we both took COVID tests and our results came back negative! It is a great relief to know that I am not endangering others (wear your masks people) and that I won’t have to quarantine for two weeks. After that, we just spent the rest of the afternoon getting settled into my dad’s hometown of Butzbach. The next morning I went hiking with my father. The city we live in is in a valley, so we hiked to that watchtower on the mountain and back. Through the mountains leading up to it, they have these really nice dirt roads that would be perfect to run on but I’ve never done it since it's almost straight uphill the whole way. The view at the top was really cool and it was nice to be outside in nature. The journey was about 11 miles altogether and took a few hours. So far the online MTC (missionary training center) experience has been quite difficult, but also really rewarding. I have had a bit of a hard time trying to keep up and fully express myself in class being a non-native speaker. I know that through hard work and faith the Lord will bless me with the gift of tongues. The teachers have been really inspiring and supportive helping me transition and I can already feel it getting easier each day. I’m starting to miss you guys so please write to me! My email is Winston.Rothaermel@missionary. org, I hope you guys have a great week!
Love,
Winston
