Berlin for the Day

Image
Hi!  Another week has come and gone!  The highlight of the week was traveling to Berlin to listen to Elder De Feo speak.  He is a member of the 70 and spoke to us on faith and how when we have faith our efforts will multiply.  He used the example of how Elisha the prophet told this old woman to borrow some pots because her oil was really low.  When she did, the oil was then multiplied.  His talk was really good.  It was fun seeing everyone as well. We also got to hear President Menzel speak to us and this time he spoke to us in English which was kind of funny as he normally only talks to us in German. The only downside was that we had to get up at 3:15 in the morning to catch the train and be in Berlin by 8:00 a.m.  We took the train from Hildesheim to Hannover and then took the ICE from Hannover to Berlin.  Another highlight of the week was getting to talk to my whole family.   Church on Sunday was good this week.  Afterward, ...

Staying in Hildesheim

Hello!  Another week has come and gone.  After sending Elder Bueno home, I am staying in Hildesheim.  My new companion is Elder Albrecht.  He is American- German like me.  His mother is from Utah and his dad is from Germany.  Also, like me, he has lived in the United States, but for the past 6 years, he and his family have been living in Austria. This week has been pretty solid with appointments.  I am doing well though a bit frustrated because my bank card has not arrived and now my MSF card isn't working.  I did finally get that straightened out, but it could be a few days before the funds get posted to my account. Thank goodness for the gift cards from my Oma for Lidl or I would be pretty hungry this week. It is starting to get cold here in Germany and I am excited that there will be Christmas markets this year.  Well, I need to run!  The work never ends!    Moses Chapter 1:39 For behold, this is my work and my glory to brin...

Weeks 67 & 68

Image
The last two weeks have been a whirlwind.  Once every 6 weeks, we get to go on what is called Austauch which in English translates to exchange. What this means is that we get to travel to another city and meet up with the Elders who are serving in that area. We then split up into pairs and go out finding, serving, or giving lessons. Currently, Elder Hansen and Elder Herycz are serving in Bremen. During this exchange, we went to the city of Bremen.  I was surprised at how big the city was as I thought it would be much smaller.  I would say the city is probably as big as the city of Hannover.  It was a good exchange.  On p-day, we went to the city of Gottingen to hang out with Elder Dobbs, Elder Vermeulen, and Elder Bunker.  We played Tennis and then went to a bougie Italian restaurant.  I had the Chicken Alfredo which was so good.  The work has been slow lately, but we have lots to look forward to such as a General Authority coming to speak to us a...

Week 66

Image
This week's adventures in Hildesheim were a little underwhelming as most of our appointments were canceled for one reason or another.  We hit the pavement and looked for new friends to teach and share the gospel with, but we didn't have much luck.  One highlight of the week was that we were able to travel to Hannover and have District Counsel with President Menzel and his wife.  I wish I had more to report on!  Today for p-day we went out and expanded our Turkish food palate.  I had a meat and rice platter that was so delicious.  Yum!  Things I am looking forward to are that next week we are going to go to Gottingen and we have exchanges coming up in Bremen.  I can't wait!  Well, I have gotta run as I have a dentist's appointment in a few minutes.  Hope everyone is doing well!   Just some things I found funny!
