This week's adventures included a baptism, another baptism by the Gottingen Elders, street contacting, teaching our friend George, haircuts, eating Chinese food, and of course Burger King which is so much better than in the states.  We also taught a mission prep class to young men and women.  We taught them why it is important to go on a mission, how you can be blessed, and how to be an effective missionary.  D&C 4 states: Now behold, a marvelous work is about to come forth among the children of men.  Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind, and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day.  Therefore, if ye have a desire to serve God year are called to the work: For behold, the field is white already to harvest; and lo, he that thrusteth in his sickle with his might, the same layeth up in store that he perisheth not, but bringeth salvation to his soul; and faith, hope char...

The Grave Hath No Victory

Image
Hello!  This week I lost my grandpa. It  was great knowing him. Thanks to the Plan of Salvation, I can receive comfort knowing that he is in a better place. Love you and Rest in peace. Mosiah 16:8 "But there is a resurrection, therefore the grave hath no victory, and the sting of death is swallowed up in Christ" Heute hab ich meinen Großvater verloren. I don't have a lot of time to write because our day has been so busy. We said goodbye to Elder Winter. He completed his mission and went back home to California. Elder Bueno and I will be staying in Hildesheim. Today, I went to the dentist for the first time in Germany. Sadly, when I fell off my bike and broke my arm, I must have hit...

ET, 1 Year Mark, BOM Challenge

Hello!   This past week has been an absolute rollercoaster ride: Tuesday- The Hildesheim Elders came to town for exchanges. I split off with Elder Winter and we went street-finding for most of the day. Within the first hour, we were able to pass out two Books of Mormons. Then, later on, we had a conversation with this really interesting guy who said he could walk on water. I asked him to show us right then and there, but he said he needed to think about it. That discussion we had didn’t end up anywhere, and we continued on our search.  Around 8 pm we got a call from President Menzel saying that we were going to be emergency transferred. It was such a shock, he told us that my comp, Elder Hugg would be going to Neumünster and the Hildesheim Elders would be taking me back with them.  Wednesday- In the morning we had district council and had to share the sad news. Then we spent most of the afternoon packing and cleaning the apartment. In the evening Sister Luck invited ...

A Week of Miracles

Image
1) Tuesday we went finding.  We were having no luck.  After two hours we said a prayer and asked Heavenly Father if he would help us find someone we could share the gospel with. Not long after we said the prayer, we met a woman and were able to give her the whole first discussion and we were able to pass out some contact cards. 2)Wednesday, we had a district council.  We had a really great meeting and afterward we had a potluck.  Each of us brought something to share.  We brought a roast.   3) Thursday we had a zone conference.  It was epic.  We talked about flooding the mission with the gospel and the importance of the Book of Mormon.  At the conference, each set of missionaries was given boxes of the Boof of Mormon. We have a goal as a mission to pass out 2,000 Books of Mormons by the end of our 40-day challenge.  Afterward, we had a BBQ.  The food was so good.  We had Schwein steaks and brats, bread, brownies, and a few...

Week 50 Pressing Forward in Braunschweig

Image
Hello from Braunschweig.  Here are this week's highlights!   1) Said goodbye to Elder Liddiard.  He is transferring to Berlin. 2) I got a new companion Elder Hugg.  He is from New Braunfels, Texas.  He is the district leader and I am his assistant. 3) We worked really hard this week and we were able to add 5 new friends to our teaching pool. 4) We had a funny experience one afternoon when we met this neo-nazi.  We had a good talk with him about the church.  Later when we were on the way home, we saw a ton of police action.  Apparently, the neo-nazi group was in a bit of a scuffle with some Antifa people. 5) We were able to do some service work for an older couple in our ward helping them move some furniture.  They rewarded us with Doner for dinner. Have a great week!  Love, Winston
