This week's highlights:   The Schultz kid is going to be baptized on Saturday and he asked me to baptize him.   We continue to teach our friend, George.  Ali came to the second hour of church this week.  Germany held its national elections and the SPD party won.

Busy In the Work

It's been a hot minute since I have written, but a lot has been going on and I find I don't have a lot of free time to write.  We have been working hard here in Hildesheim to bring the gospel to all those who are willing to listen.  As we have worked hard, we have seen miracles and have found new friends to teach.  One of our friends is George and we are praying hard that he will accept the gospel.  Another friend of ours is Ali and we have been working with him over the last couple of weeks.  We are also working with our church congregation (ward) in giving a mission prep class to that who are thinking about going on a mission or who are preparing to go on a mission.  That has been fun!  I really like Hildesheim and am hoping I will get to continue to stay here for a while, but who knows we could both be up for transfers soon.  Happy 50th Birthday to my mom this past week. I hope you had a wonderful birthday and enjoyed your vacation to Portugal....

Zone Conference and Exchanges

Image
Another week has come and gone!  We had such a good week.  The week began with Zone Conference and we had a really good lesson from President Menzel.  He talked to us about asking ourselves what would Jesus do?  Asking this question then seems to put everything into perspective for example if you are mad and so on.  He also talked about how Laman and Lemuel were willing to get on the boat but lacked the desire to make good choices.  He then applied that to missionary work.  Are we like Lamen and Lemuel who lack the desire to continue to put in our all on our missions?  At Conference, I was able to see Allison Kunz and Elder Vermuelen who are from Cumming, Georgia as well.  After the conference and district council, the elders came from Bremen and did exchanges with us.  On the first day, I paired up with Elder Schildknecht who is new to the mission and on the second day I paired up with Elder Buchmiller.  We had a great time ...

Hildesheim

This week's adventures included a baptism, another baptism by the Gottingen Elders, street contacting, teaching our friend George, haircuts, eating Chinese food, and of course Burger King which is so much better than in the states.  We also taught a mission prep class to young men and women.  We taught them why it is important to go on a mission, how you can be blessed, and how to be an effective missionary.  D&C 4 states: Now behold, a marvelous work is about to come forth among the children of men.  Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind, and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day.  Therefore, if ye have a desire to serve God year are called to the work: For behold, the field is white already to harvest; and lo, he that thrusteth in his sickle with his might, the same layeth up in store that he perisheth not, but bringeth salvation to his soul; and faith, hope char...

The Grave Hath No Victory

Image
Hello!  This week I lost my grandpa. It  was great knowing him. Thanks to the Plan of Salvation, I can receive comfort knowing that he is in a better place. Love you and Rest in peace. Mosiah 16:8 "But there is a resurrection, therefore the grave hath no victory, and the sting of death is swallowed up in Christ" Heute hab ich meinen Großvater verloren. I don't have a lot of time to write because our day has been so busy. We said goodbye to Elder Winter. He completed his mission and went back home to California. Elder Bueno and I will be staying in Hildesheim. Today, I went to the dentist for the first time in Germany. Sadly, when I fell off my bike and broke my arm, I must have hit...

ET, 1 Year Mark, BOM Challenge

Hello!   This past week has been an absolute rollercoaster ride: Tuesday- The Hildesheim Elders came to town for exchanges. I split off with Elder Winter and we went street-finding for most of the day. Within the first hour, we were able to pass out two Books of Mormons. Then, later on, we had a conversation with this really interesting guy who said he could walk on water. I asked him to show us right then and there, but he said he needed to think about it. That discussion we had didn’t end up anywhere, and we continued on our search.  Around 8 pm we got a call from President Menzel saying that we were going to be emergency transferred. It was such a shock, he told us that my comp, Elder Hugg would be going to Neumünster and the Hildesheim Elders would be taking me back with them.  Wednesday- In the morning we had district council and had to share the sad news. Then we spent most of the afternoon packing and cleaning the apartment. In the evening Sister Luck invited ...
